TRANENT
Tranent is a historically working-class town in East Lothian with a population of nearly 13,000 people.
It’s a close-knit and growing community, but one facing deep challenges. According to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), large sections of Tranent fall within the “Most Deprived” category, with 3 of East Lothian’s 4 most deprived data zones located within the town itself.
Behind these statistics are real people and real struggles. Families battle poverty, addiction, and hopelessness, and many remain unreached by the gospel or unconnected to a local church.

HOPE
In 2023, a small group of believers from three different churches relocated to Tranent with a shared desire to see a gospel-preaching church established at the heart of the community. By God’s grace, a building was purchased in early 2024 to serve as the home for this new work. Refurbishments are underway, with plans to open the building fully in 2026.
On August 30, 2025, this small group formally covenanted together as Tranent Community Church (TCC) and celebrated their inaugural worship service. Even in these early stages, TCC is active in the community—engaging through local sports, evangelism, and relational outreach—seeking to bring light and hope through the power of Jesus Christ.
VISION
The vision of Tranent Community Church is simple: to declare and display the gospel of Jesus Christ. 20schemes is thankful to partner with Pastor Tim Rawlinson and his team as they labor to plant a faithful, Christ-centered church that will serve the people of Tranent for generations to come.
Please pray for TCC as they grow in maturity, reach their neighbors with the gospel, and shine the hope of Christ in East Lothian.
