On a 20schemes Vision Trip, you’ll see how 20schemes is working to revitalise and plant gospel-centred churches in Scotland’s poorest communities.

Vision trips are specifically for church/ministry leaders. Each trip is limited to 8 people, with a maximum of 4 people representing one church/ministry. Limiting numbers helps to best facilitate a relationship between us and your church or ministry.
Once you’ve been approved to attend, the cost is £550 (UK) or $700 US per person. Attendees will make their own travel arrangements to arrive in Edinburgh, Scotland, before noon (UK time) on day one of the trip. Airport pick-up, all food, and accommodation are organised for you and included in the fee above.

Church Planter
Job Title: Church Planter
Location: Applicants may be required to work at existing church plants in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness, or any new locations established in Scotland.
Job Description
Niddrie Community Church, based in Edinburgh, work in collaboration with 20schemes to recruit missionaries to live and serve in the housing schemes of Scotland. Church Planters will commit to serve long-term and plant gospel-preaching churches. Due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement to live in the community and be a member of the church at which you will be placed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Preaching, teaching, and leading worship
- Develop a strategy for a church plant ministry, recruit and lead a team
- Pastorally care for, support and counsel individuals within the church, team and community
- Recruit, train and co-ordinate work of church/plant teams
- Disciple believers and support discipleship relationships
- Establish new and maintain existing community contacts
- Conduct research to determine the needs of the community
- Oversee community outreach and events
- Develop local and international partners for financial and prayer support
- Leading marriages, funerals and other special services where qualified
Desired Experience/Qualifications
- Master of Divinity, BA Theology and/or pastoral experience
- Experience working within a ministry context
- Experience working with people from complex backgrounds
Salary
Fundraising is required for this position and a fundraising goal met before start. Salary range is £35,887 – £49,361, dependent on experience.

Occupational Requirement
An occupational requirement applies in terms of the Equality Act (part 1, schedule 9). This post requires the occupant to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and to believe that the Bible is fully trustworthy, in all that it affirms, and the highest authority for faith and life in keeping with 20schemes’ statement of faith. These principles require to be applied alongside the professional skills required in this role.

Gospel Worker
Job Title: Gospel Worker

Niddrie Community Church, based in Edinburgh, work in collaboration with 20schemes to recruit missionaries to live and serve in the housing schemes of Scotland. We are looking for gospel-worker missionaries to live and serve in the schemes of Scotland. Due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement to live in the community and be a member of the church at which you will be placed.
The applicant will specialise in a particular area: church planter associate, women’s worker, pastoral assistant, or youth worker. Gospel workers serve as part of a church-planting team, aiming to be positive role models, faithful friends, and committed evangelists in the schemes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Share the gospel message of the Christian faith
- Assist the Church Planter with any duties associated with establishing a healthy church
- Pastorally care for, support and counsel individuals within the church and community
- Recruit, train and co-ordinate work of volunteers and junior staff
- Disciple new believers and establish and support discipleship relationships
- Help establish new and maintain existing community contacts
- Become familiar with needs of the area through surveys, interviews, etc.
- Assist with development of local and international partners for financial and prayer support
Desired Experience/Qualifications
- 20schemes Ministry Internship (2 Year) or equivalent
- Undergraduate degree in ministry area
- Experience working within a ministry context
- Experience working with people from complex backgrounds
Salary
Fundraising is required for this position and a fundraising goal met before start. Salary range is £22,902 – £34,216, dependent on experience.

Ministry Intern
Job Title: Ministry Intern

Job Description
Niddrie Community Church, based in Edinburgh, work in collaboration with 20schemes to recruit missionaries to live and serve in
the housing schemes of Scotland. This part-time position combines in-house training and practical ministry over two years, with a wide variety of activities. Due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement to live in the community and be a member of the church at which you will be placed.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Share the gospel message of the Christian faith
- Establish new and maintain existing community contacts
- Developing pastoral relationships
- Participate in or lead group activities (e.g. children’s groups, Bible studies)
- Ministry activities of the church as required (e.g. café, community activities)
- Assisting church leaders with organisation, administration and running of ministries
- Participate in general housekeeping
Desired Experience/Qualifications
- Theological Training
- Experience working within a ministry context
- Experience working with people from complex backgrounds
Salary
Fundraising is required for this position and a fundraising goal met before start. Salary range is £13,496 – £18,772, full time equivalent.

MOVEin
At 20schemes we believe that the poorest communities of Scotland need healthy local churches. However, in order to reach these needy communities and establish healthy churches, we need mature Christians to move into areas of deprivation. People will not be won, discipled, and trained with drive-by ministries. They will be changed as Christians live amongst the people, come alongside them, share the gospel and disciple those who are converted. We need people to MOVEin.
All of our church planters and pastors are in need of help; the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. So would you prayerfully consider leaving the suburbs to move into a scheme? Maybe you are retiring and want to use the last decades of your life in service of the Lord – could it be in an area of deprivation? Maybe you are a young family and you are looking for somewhere to live – could it be in a scheme? Maybe the Lord is stirring your heart to something new – could it be in a poorer community?
