What's Going On At 20schemes in 2014?

As we move into 2014 we have decided to continue spreading the message about the need for gospel churches in our country’s housing schemes. But, we have made some decisions concerning the immediate future. To that effect, we have decided to focus on three main areas in the coming 12-18 months.

1. Lochee, Dundee
2. Grangemouth, Falkirk
3. Gracemount, Edinburgh

We will be presenting some film of each of these areas in the coming weeks and we will be informing you of the needs of each area. Of course, there are many other areas we are interested in (and are interested in us) but we have decided to narrowly focus on these places in order to recruit teams specific to each area. Our hope is to launch our initial works well rather than just offer a scatter gun approach. We believe that this will be the best strategy and offer us a better chance of long term stability.

We already have 10 people who have passed our application process and, again over the next 18 months, we will be working with, mentoring, training and sending them out to work in teams in one of these three areas. We will be introducing you to each of these people and their families over the coming weeks and months on the site.

Our aim this year is to continue recruiting and developing indigenous leadership across the schemes we have contact with. These can come from any schemes, anywhere. Our aim in this is to encourage and offer training for existing ministries in poorer areas. If you would like to find out more information concerning our indigenous training grants then please contact us through the site.

Later in the year we hope to put on a 2 day forum and invite interested parties who work in the schemes for discussion and idea sharing on how we can best move forward offering contextualised training and support on a national level for our kind of church planting ministry. we will let you know details in due course.

We are also very keen to share the vision in local churches across the country. If you would like us to come and share about our work or are interested in supporting us then please contact us through the site. My email is mez@20schemes.com. We will be having a “Highlands” launch in March and will be sharing about our work to a number of churches there. We will also be publicising our summer mission trips and also our regular vision trips for church leaders.

We will try to keep you as informed as possible as we work through the year and as the Lord intervenes (as He has a habit of doing). We are working to update the website and keeping our multi-media services up to date. we are also going to take the time this year to work on a more detailed training curriculum and the production of materials for discipleship that would be useful to practitioners.

Please continue to pray for us. Our desire is to see churches revitalised and/or planted in places where His name is not yet known.

Blessings to you all and thanks for your continued support.
