For a number of years now, 20schemes has been offering ministry internships in the schemes of Scotland that combine training and practice. We want to see individuals equipped and trained to use their gifts for God’s glory in housing schemes or wherever the Lord would lead them.[bctt tweet=”We want to see individuals #equipped and #trained to use their gifts for God’s glory.” username=”20schemes”]We’re excited to announce that we’re now offering a specialist internship for individuals looking for experience in ministry, with a particular emphasis on media and communications. Could this be you or someone you know?
Media and communications covers a broad range of disciplines including: photography, writing, graphic design, web development, journalism, film making, among others. Interns would get opportunities to be trained and equipped in these areas.
They would also receive broader ministry experience and theological training through our Intensive Discipleship programme, with foundation and advanced levels. The broader ministry experience will involve anything from cleaning toilets, serving in the community cafe, or running kids clubs, to leading Bible studies and devotions.
The internship is open to Christians aged 18+ and is completed over 1 or 2 years. It would be based in Niddrie, a housing scheme on the east side of Edinburgh. The intern would report to Mike Stark, 20schemes Communications Manager and become part of the media and communications team.
We run our internships according to our academic schedule with all new interns starting during an induction week in mid-August. This is a self-funded placement, however we would provide assistance in raising the support needed each year. Indigenous interns may also be able to access support through our Indigenous Fund. Applicants would require the recommendation of your pastoral team and an Elder/Pastor’s reference.
There is no specific expectation for interns to remain with 20schemes at the completion of the internship. We anticipate some may well return to their home church or community better equipped to serve there, while others might want to continue at 20schemes long term.
This is a very good opportunity to get some solid practical teaching as well as hands-on ministry experience in a scheme context. It will be exceptionally challenging, but will give you a solid grounding for wherever you end up serving the Lord.
