Exactly a year ago we had just come back from our 20schemes staff week away which was our first week of full time church planting. Now, a year later, we are just back from our second staff week away where we spent time marvelling at what God has done in the past year.[bctt tweet=”‘Pray for unity & diversity in the church plant at Barlanark.’ (@petetheirishone) #plantinginbarl”]We are thrilled to be part of God’s work here in Barlanark and glad of so many joys we have experienced already in our first full year. Yet the year has also been harder than we ever imagined and we are glad of God’s sustaining grace through it all.
At the week away we were talking about the unity and diversity of our churches. Please be praying for these two things in particular for the plant in Barlanark.
Pray we would be united in the gospel and on the core values we are putting in place as we move towards covenanting together as a church in the scheme.
But also pray for our diversity. We are currently a group of nearly 20 people who are mostly all young in age and young in faith. We are desperately praying for a number of more mature Christians to join our group. People who have been running this race for longer than we have and people who are willing to come and give themselves to see the planting of a united yet diverse gospel church in our scheme.
Would you join us in praying for this?
Or maybe, after watching this video, would you join us by coming?
For more information on the plant at Barlanark please check out the Barlanark section of the 20schemes website or, even better, get in touch with Pete Stewart and come along and see us.
May God be glorified as we work towards planting a church that will ‘make Jesus known in Barlanark and beyond, by proclaiming the gospel, making disciples and by living in community.’
Ultimately, Barlanark needs to know Jesus.
