Workers

Indigenous workers: The ultimate vision of 20Schemes is to see churches in Scotland’s poorest communities being led by men and women who have come from those communities. We will evangelize, mentor and train men and women from within Scotland’s schemes and pray that the Lord will raise up a new generation of leaders. Through our Training Institute we will partner with the Porterbrook Network to provide biblical training to this next generation of Scottish church leaders.

Church Planters: 20Schemes seeks to send church planting missionaries to live and serve in the Schemes. As part of a Church Planting team, our Church Planters will develop friendships, live as part of the community, be an evangelist and mentor. Church Planters will go through a 20Schemes assessment process before being commissioned as a missionary to Scotland’s schemes. We provide assistance in raising the support needed for a Church Planting family, as well as training, support and care while in Scotland.

Female Gospel Workers: Thousands of unreached women live in Scotland’s schemes. Many are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Some are trapped in prostitution. Others have experienced a life of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Most are struggling just to provide a safe and loving home for their children. Female Outreach Workers are essential to ministry in Scotland’s schemes. We seek to recruit women willing to commit to move into the schemes for two years as part of a church planting team in order to develop 20 discipleship relationships with women there. Each worker will go through a 20Schemes assessment process before being commissioned as a missionary to Scotland’s schemes. We provide assistance in raising the support needed each year for a Female Outreach Worker, as well as training, support and care while in Scotland. Check out the video

Ministry Apprenticeships: Young teenagers with no father figure. Unemployed men often caught up in a life of crime. Drugs, gangs, alcohol addiction and violence is a way of life for many men on the schemes. Most have no positive role model, few faithful friends, feeling trapped and looked down on by society. Ministry Apprentices are men who will develop 20 gospel relationships with men in the schemes over 2 years. They will go through a 20Schemes assessment process before being commissioned as a missionary to Scotland’s schemes. We provide assistance in raising the support needed each year for a Ministry Apprentice, as well as training, support and care while in Scotland.

Internships: We are looking to send up to ten short-term interns each year to provide support to our Church Planters, Female Outreach Workers and Ministry Apprentices. Interns can serve from as few as 90 days to as long as 6 months. We will provide housing and other support. Interns will go through a 20Schemes application process before heading to Scotland’s schemes. We provide assistance in raising the support needed as well as training, support and care while in Scotland.
