West Pilton Christian Centre
1 West Pilton Park
Church Planting Intern: Andrew Scott
History: West Pilton Christian centre is in the ‘pre-planting’ stage in a housing scheme in the North of Edinburgh. We meet on the site of an Edinburgh City Mission café/drop-in centre that has been there for over 40 years. The intention is to gather data, pray and see if we can gather a launch team in order to begin a church plant in the area.
Community Profile: West Pilton has a population of 1405 with 43% of those recorded as being income deprived. West Pilton and the surrounding areas are also part of ongoing regeneration in Edinburgh. New housing and apartment blocks are being built in the surrounding area and they, in turn, are attracting a growing number of young professionals and first time buyers into the area. The influx of a growing immigrant population, particularly African, means that the demographic is somewhat different from 40 years ago when ECM first embarked in the work at Pilton.
- There is a need for a church planting family to come in and assist Andrew and his family in the area.
- There is a need for a couple of Ministry Apprentices to come in and begin to work with the youth and children in the area
- There is a need for at least one women’s worker to come into this area.
