History: Wauchope is in the embryo stage. It is a small core of new, indigenous believers and non-believers who meet twice a week for Bible study. This work is being led by Mez McConnell founder of 20schemes but is being driven by local people at a grass roots level. This is very much a trial and error project at the moment and we are hoping that the Lord will grow a gospel community as the area is marked for extensive regenration.
Micro Profile: GreenDykes has a population of 829 with 47% of those recorded as being income deprived. Greendykes and Niddrie are part of an ongoing regeneration in Edinburgh and there are plans for new housing and a new through road to the local hospital in the very near future. This area is currently desolate, with only two tower blocks and bare land around them as we wait for the next housing development phase to be completed in the area.
Current Needs:
- A church planting family to move into the area.
- A women’s community worker
- Ministry apprentices to help establish local contacts and outreach.
